Thank Neptune that gone are the days of frumpy tent-like dresses, panel pants and shirts with ties in the back. Now that sporting a baby bump is a fashion statement in and of itself, maternity wear has upped the ante and is cooler and more stylish than ever. Sure, you can still find all those things listed above, but why would you? There are so many other options that make impending Mommydom super-hot.
Of course, it is possible to take bump-baring to the opposite extreme, however. It’s perfect acceptable to tastefully show off your rounded belly, but it’s a whole other ball game to run around in wet suit-tight shirts that suddenly turn an anticipated, “Awwww” into an unexpected, “Ewwwww.”
To tread that fine line, look for maternity clothes in the same trends as regular women’s lines including chunky knits, argyle, mini skirts and dresses, and layers. Layering a form-fitting tank or turtleneck under a button-up sweater or swing coat is a great way to show the world your bump without looking icky.
Feeling good about yourself can definitely be a challenge during pregnancy, so give yourself some extra love (and your wardrobe an extra boost) by splurging on a few great pieces to wear throughout your Bump Bonanza. From dresses to work wear to warm and cozy sweaters, there are lots of great choices that leave the go-to overalls of yore in their dust.
