Gossip Girl Blake Lively and boyfriend Penn Badgley were out and about having dinner at Nobu in NYC. Blake looks casual but very chic, as always, while Penn’s attire leaves something to be desired.

From top to bottom, there’s everything wrong with his look. From the rolled up sleeves on the his out of date plaid shirt to his flip flops. I don’t know about you, but I think flip flops should be saved for the beach. I’m not sure when it became cool to wear them to a public restaurant. Hopefully, the trend doesn’t continue.

Blake always looks stylish and maybe she needs to perform a fashion makeover on her man. If he had to wear shorts, maybe a polo shirt and some suitable shoes would have been more appropriate.

Apparently he’s a big fan of the plaid shirt and shorts look. Here is the twosome again a couple weeks ago.

Again Blake looks fab and Penn … eh, not so much. At least he put on closed shoes. I have to say, Blake Lively’s puppy Penny is just absolutely adorable. The couple is often see hanging out with the cute little dog.

Ugh! Can we somehow just get rid of leather pants from the fashion scene? If someone as hot as Anne Hathaway doesn’t look good in them, that should tell you something! I’m not sure if her pants are actually leather, pleather or something else tight and shiny. But whatever they are, they aren’t flattering.

Cute Anne Hathaway was leaving the “TRL” taping at the MTV Studios in New York earlier this week wearing this outfit. She starts out right with a black blazer over her white T-shirt. Throw on a couple of layered necklaces and a pair of oversized sunglasses … she was looking good so far.

But the leather pants really have to go. I’m not sure what decade leather pants were really fashionable, but it’s definitely not now. Cigarette pants, trousers, even jeans would have been a better choice.

I’m not too wild about her spiky stilleto sandals either. Many sandals have the thick wrap around the ankle this season, which isn’t a favorite look of mine. However, I’m sure they would have looked much better with something other than leather pants.

Technically, the term pin up didn’t exist until 1941, but men have been pinning up pictures of beautiful women torn from magazines and advertisements since the Gibson Girl—Charles Dana Gibson’s illustrations of ideal American womanhood circa 1900.
          
          
          
          
Photography and the subsequent rise of the movie industry gave rise to a whole new crop of real live pin up girls. The pinup was as much a part of World War II as rationing. American GIs adorned their lockers with semi-revealing photos of movies stars like Rita Hayworth. Dorothy Lamour and Veronica Lake.
                    
          
          
But the number one pinup girl of the war was Betty Grable. Her picture in swimsuit and high heels, taken by studio photographer Frank Powolny, outsold those of all her contemporaries. What was it about the blonde with the million dollar legs that was so popular? After all, Grable wasn’t as beautiful as Veronica Lake, as sultry as Dorothy Lamour or as sexy as Rita Hayworth.
          
          
          
          
The ideal pinup of the day was pretty but not beautiful, sexy but not scary and saucy without being salacious. Grable, the box office queen of the 1940s, fit the bill perfectly. You know I’m old enough to remember when Madonna burst onto the music scene and my friends and I all scrambled for our rubber wrist bracelets, lace gloves, and over sized belt buckles to wear to our Friday night trips to the local roller rink … ah those were the days. But I digress, Madonna’s new album Hard Candy is due out April 29th 2008 and looking at the cover it’s a trip back to her roots. Supposedly it’s all about the juxtaposition of sweetness and hard style which is classic Madonna at her best.

Amanda Hanshaw Beauty and the Geek Contestant who was featured in the January 2008 issue of playboy

I’m not exactly sure what triggered a surge in searches for Amanda Hanshaw nearly three months after her photos appered in Playboy Magazine but, she is creating quite a buzz, so thought I’d help you out. Amanda was one of the couples in season 4 of the TV show Beauty and the Geek. She didn’t do particulalrly well and was eliminated in the first round.
