The thought has probably occurred to you while standing in a long security line at the airport, wondering if you’ll make your flight. Wouldn’t it be nice to live like a celebrity? No, celebrities don’t get to cut the security line. If they’re flying commercial they’re stuck like everyone else. Yet the biggest stars forego that process entirely. Instead they fly on their own personal jets. It must be some life.

There was a time when even more A-list celebrities and other recognized personalities owned private jets. While the economy was booming in the late 90s — and fuel prices were still reasonable — plenty of celebrities took to the skies in the super-popular Gulfstreams. Once the purview of big-time Wall Street power brokers, celebrities started to buy them up and fly them at will. That trend has changed a bit, though.

See, even celebrities have limits on how much they’ll spend on extraneous luxuries. Once fuel prices stated to climb and the economy sank, many sold. That must have been quite the downer, right? After all, can you imagine going from flying on your own personal jet to waiting on line at airport security? Of course, celebrities didn’t make quite that drastic a downgrade. Instead they turned to fractional ownership.

This is still a preferred method of travel for many A-list celebrities. The costs of fuel and maintenance make a private jet unjustifiable even for some of the richest celebs. Some companies saw an opportunity here, though. They created something like a timeshare for private jets. Celebs — or anyone who can afford it, really — pay into a pool, and get to use the jet if it’s available. These payments are smaller than normal payments, but pooled together with others it helps take care of fuel and maintenance costs.

What’s odd is that some of the celebrities whom you’d think would own private jets actually pay into the fractional fund. Think Jerry Seinfield and Tom Hanks are hard up for cash? How about Nicole Kidman and Julia Roberts? They all use the fractional ownership company NetJet. In fact, according to TMZ, Roberts flew 1,749 miles while shooing My Best Friend’s Wedding. This seems to be the most popular choice for many celebrities.

Still, there are those who would rather shell out the dough to own the jet outright. It must be nice. Of course, you’ll notice that these are the top of the top listing celebs: Oprah Winfrey, John Travolta, Harrison Ford, Jim Carrey, and Tom Cruise all fly in complete privacy. Travolta is a story unto himself. He not only flies his own private jet, but he actually owns a Boeing 707. He even has his pilot’s license, which surely helps him get where he’s going in the quickest time possible. Plenty of others fly their own jets, though they’re very much the realm of CEOs and other business magnates.

The rest of us, of course, have to fly in the traditional way. We go to travel sites and try to find cheap flights that leave at acceptable hours. We try to bundle hotels and rental cars to save even a few pennies. That’s par for the course though, right? We schlubs have to pull out all the stops, and even then we have to wait plenty before we get to our destinations. It must be nice, flying in privacy and style, like the celebs.

Carrie Underwood

Former American Idol winner Carrie Underwood exchanged vows with Canadian pro hockey player, Mike Fisher on July 10th, 2010 at the Ritz Carlton Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Georgia. Underwood and Fisher kept their relationship relatively quite while they were dating. Mike Fisher proposed to Underwood at his home in December 2009 with a 12-carat engagement ring estimated to be worth more than $1 million. On her wedding day, the gorgeous Underwood donned a Monique Lhuillier gown made of Chantilly lace and silk organza. Sporting an exquisite diamond tiara (made by Johnathon Arndt), Underwood was the picture-perfect beautiful bride. The diamond tiara, a gift from her soon-to-be-husband, was over 40-carats set in 18-carat white gold with diamond flowers and vines. A unique piece that Underwood hopes to pass down to future brides in the family. Underwood’s dog was also touched by the wedding fashion bug. Ace, a 4-year old rat terrier, wore a pink tuxedo that featured Swarovski crystals. Ace played a very important role in the ceremony — he was the official ring bearer. After the elaborate wedding, Underwood changed into a short, flirty “party” gown for the wedding reception. Underwood told People magazine that she wanted to “get my boogie on, so I had to change.” Prior to the wedding, Underwood treated her 200 guests to the wonderful spa facilities at the resort.

Emily Blunt

Another wedding that occurred on July 10th was between British actress, Emily Blunt, and actor John Krasinski best known for his role on The Office television series. The engaging couple tied the knot in a private outdoor ceremony in Como, Italy. Blunt wore a beautiful Marchesa gown for the intimate affair. The dress was a custom creme colored chiffon wedding gown with sweetheart draping. Embroidered detailing highlighted the gown, creating a delicate elegance. The happy couple celebrated with friends and family after the ceremony aboard the Concordia yacht in Lake Como. Krasinski proposed to Blunt in August 2009 with a three-carat Edwardian diamond ring designed by Neil Lane and rumored to have cost $100,000.

Wearing a strapless Vera Wang dress, actress Hilary Duff married hockey player, Mike Comrie, in an intimate sunset wedding at a Southern California estate located near San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California. The ceremony took place on August 14, 2010. The 22-year old bride was escorted down the aisle by her mother. The bride’s sister, Hayley, was her maid of honor. In comparison to most large celebrity weddings, only a hundred of the bride and groom’s closest friends and family were in attendance at the magical event. The happy couple have been together for three years leading up to their blissful day. Comrie proposed to Duff in February with a stunning 14-carat, radiant-cut diamond ring said to have cost a whopping $1 million.

Alicia Keys

Songstress Alicia Keys and music producer Swizz Beatz (real name Kasseem Dean) entered into their blessed union on July 31, 2010 in an intimate wedding that took place at a private residence in Corsica overlooking the Meditterranian. The beautiful bride wore an ivory silk Vera Wang gown with georgette draping and jewel detail on the back shoulder. Finishing off the outfit were Christian Louboutin shoes. Though six months pregnant, Keys was still a stunning bride and glowed with happiness as she was escorted down the aisle by both of her parents. Deepak Chopra was the officiant of the ceremony.

Four celebrity weddings, all very different. From opulent and elaborate to quiet and intimate, celebrity wedding styles are a reflection of who they are. Newly engaged brides will be tearing out the pages of celebrity magazines to replicate the trends each one has set forth hoping their day will be just as special.

Let’s recap, she’s had her kids taken away, has lost control of her finances, been in and out of rehab, had a nervous breakdown, been allegedly drugged up by her manager Sam Lufti, and Possibly gotten married to her paparazzi boyfriend, and what does she do? Start training to go on tour of course.

Considering her last outing on the VMA awards I’d be surprised if this lasted longer than the recently canceled Spice Girls Reunion Concert. Maybe she should skip the luxury hotel in los angeles and go with a cheap waterfront hotel in baltimore.

Of course, she hasn’t pulled it all together quite yet. Her bra strap is falling down and her face doesn’t quite look it’s best. But really, let’s not nitpick. Her printed halter dress is very cute and her sunglasses look fab. And I love big white handbags – perfect for summertime.

Wouldn’t it be classic if Britney actually got her act together and starting looking and acting normal again? But really, what fun would that be?

Britney been so entertaining (yet sad) to watch over the last few years. She is going to be filming a video for a “virtual appearance” on the upcoming Madonna tour. So that’s why she’s trying to get her hair into tiptop shape. Good luck, Britney!

You’ve gotta give credit where it’s due the Pussycat Dolls have taken a raunchy vegas burlesque act, and toned it down and focussed the sex appeal to stay exciting, but keep still Madison Avenue happy. Their ad for the Pontiac Vibe or their new Bally’s Total Fitness Commercial show that the sex kittens have what it takes to bring it to the table. It’s too bad Treasure Island TI couldn’t figure it out with their nightly street side Sirens Pirate Show, sexy pirates (both men and women) would have really been hot (and profitable) during the Johnny Depp Pirates of the Caribbean era …

Obviously, the camera just caught her face at a bad moment because the subsequent photos, she looks much better. But I just have one question, “What’s with the hat?” Talk about out of place!

She ruined a perfectly good outfit by adding a colorful plaid cap. The plaid hat isn’t that bad itself. It might be cute with a casual outfit – a T-shirt and jeans maybe. But it certainly isn’t nightclub attire … especially with a white dress. I really don’t like her choice in jewelry with this dress either. The colorful beaded necklace, bracelet and anklet look cheap (though I’m sure they aren’t). Again, just a bit too casual for the dress.

I’ll give Tara some credit for her great shoes! Her bronze peep-toe pumps are really cute, even with her toes hanging off the end. This isn’t Tara Reid’s worst fashion disaster though. Remember when her boob popped out, showing her implant scar? I guess a bad hat and jewelry is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

There are many advantages to being the child of a celebrity: Wealth, good-looking genes, hobnobbing with famous people. But being the child of a celebrity is a tough act to follow. Just ask Marlon Brando’s kids. Or Joan Crawford’s. Isn’t it hard enough for a girl to follow in the footsteps of a mom who’s a sexpot like Demi Moore without being saddled with a name like Rumer?

So Max and Emme are lucky; other celebrity spawn were not so fortunate.

Moxie CrimeFighter Jillette
Penn Jillette’s daughter gets her first name from a soft drink. Her second, the speaking half of magic act Penn & Teller says, will come in handy when she’s pulled over for speeding. “She can say, ‘But officer, we’re on the same side,’” Jillette explained. “‘My middle name is CrimeFighter.’”

I dunno. Highway patrolmen aren’t particularly known for having a sense of humor. A reply like that might not come off. He’d probably think little Moxie was mouthing off and haul her into the station for a strip search.

Audio Science Clayton
Long after actress Shannyn Sossamon’s sell by date expires, her son with Dallas Clayton will still be named Audio Science Clayton, and will have suffered a lifetime’s worth of noogies, wedgies and other humiliations. The actress defended her choice of such an unusual name , saying “We wanted a word, not a name.” Shannyn and Dallas reportedly read the dictionary “three or four times” before alighting upon Science. But just plain old Science wasn’t good enough. Science, you see, “might get shortened to Sci, as in Simon.” God forbid the child should have a graceful way out. And what is Audio Science anyway? The science of noise?

Apple Martin
The daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin was named after a fruit because “Apples are so sweet, and they’re wholesome, and it’s biblical.” If you say so.

The SS Stallone
All of Sylvester Stallone kids have his initials, SS. Some may find this cute. But the names–Sage Moonblood, Seargeogh, Sophia Rose, Sistine Rose and Scarlet Rose–aren’t. Except for Sophia, who for some reason shares a middle name with her sister Scarlet. You’d think someone who could come up with Seargeogh could come up with a different middle name.

Ptolemy Williams
OK, it’s a name. But it seems to have fallen out of favor sometime after Cleopatra ruled Egypt. The son of Gretchen Mol and director Tod Williams will go through life saying “The P is silent” when spelling his name for the gazillionth time. I picture driver’s licenses, school rosters and paychecks with various misspellings that poor little Ptolemy will have to correct, trudging down to the Motor Vehicle Agency again and again. And God knows what his mail will look like.

Dandelion Richards
The daughter of Rolling Stones Keith Richards and Anita Pallenberg now goes by the name of Angela. Hard to blame her. Who wants to be named after a weed? Yeah, yeah; there’s a song. But the song came five years before the daughter.

The Geldof girls: Peaches, Fifi Trixibelle and Pixie
They look normal enough, but it seems like Bob Geldof named his daughters after strippers as in “I really like those Peaches.” They’re joined by Heavenly Hirani Tiger Lily, the only daughter of the late INXS star Michael Hutchence and Paula Yates, mother of Peaches et al.

Just call him Joey
Zowie Bowie, son of rocker David Bowie, also dropped his name in favor of something more prosaic.

The Foreman Dynasty
There’s George Foreman, one-time boxer and grill salesman; his oldest son, George Jr.; George III, number 2 son; George IV, the next guy, George V, his successor; and George VI, the prince regent. His daughters are named Freeda George and Georgetta. Just goes to show that you don’t have to resort to weird names to screw up your children.

Pictures from the new Miley Cyrus Breakout Album show that the singing pop star and her handlers are moving away from the squeaky clean image to a more mature, sexual woman. It’s hard to say that this a good thing considering the teen pregnancy of Jamie Lynn Spears and the Pregnancy Pact earlier this week. You also have to wonder how Disney feels about the OTMFC acronym (it stands for Off The Mother F*%king Chain). More pictures after the jump.

From top to bottom, there’s everything wrong with his look. From the rolled up sleeves on the his out of date plaid shirt to his flip flops. I don’t know about you, but I think flip flops should be saved for the beach. I’m not sure when it became cool to wear them to a public restaurant. Hopefully, the trend doesn’t continue.

Blake always looks stylish and maybe she needs to perform a fashion makeover on her man. If he had to wear shorts, maybe a polo shirt and some suitable shoes would have been more appropriate.

Again Blake looks fab and Penn … eh, not so much. At least he put on closed shoes. I have to say, Blake Lively’s puppy Penny is just absolutely adorable. The couple is often see hanging out with the cute little dog.

Cute Anne Hathaway was leaving the “TRL” taping at the MTV Studios in New York earlier this week wearing this outfit. She starts out right with a black blazer over her white T-shirt. Throw on a couple of layered necklaces and a pair of oversized sunglasses … she was looking good so far.

But the leather pants really have to go. I’m not sure what decade leather pants were really fashionable, but it’s definitely not now. Cigarette pants, trousers, even jeans would have been a better choice.

I’m not too wild about her spiky stilleto sandals either. Many sandals have the thick wrap around the ankle this season, which isn’t a favorite look of mine. However, I’m sure they would have looked much better with something other than leather pants.
