Carrie Underwood, Katie Holmes Top US Weekly’s Makeover List

One is blond and petite. The other is a brunette who towers over her famous hubby. But they both share one common characteristic: The cover of US Weekly’s 20 Best Makeovers issue, due on newstands this Friday.
Yep, everybody’s favorite marathon-running Scientologist, Katie Holmes, nailed US’s top spot for “Most Improved” and itty-bitty country-crossover Idol Carrie Underwood scored “Sexiest New Style”. Before and after photos (the befores taken at the stars’ most horrific fashion moments, of course) are featured, showing us just how far a little makeup and a great hairdo can go.
Said Project Runway’s Tim Gunn of Holmes’ switcheroo:
“When she first was with Tom Cruise, she looked like a kid. Now she’s an elegant woman.”
Indeed. She’s come a long way to be sure. But isn’t she looking a bit Posh Spice-ish these days (minus the bizarre tatas, of course).
As for Underwood, her plethora of bragged-about jeans have stepped aside for a sophisticated and fresh style, and names like Escada and Max Azaria no longer sound like car models.
“My fashion vocabulary has expanded!” said Underwood.
Glad to hear it, Carrie. There sure as hell is more to life than Levis.
