Tony Parker Files Lawsuit Against X17online

Posted on December 20th, 2007 by Kori in Celebrities

Tony Parker - Eva LongoriaTony Parker filed a lawsuit against X17online.com, a celebrity gossip website that published stories claiming he had an affair with a French model, Alexandra Paressant.

The San Antonio Spurs star filed the suit on Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging x17online posted a series of “false and defamatory” stories claiming Parker cheated on his wife, actress Eva Longoria.

Parker is seeking at least $20 million in damages, plus court costs and other fees.

“This is false. It never happened. And X17 had to know that the story was false, or, at the very least, it had to have entertained serious doubts about the credibility of its supposed source,” the lawsuit said.

The suit also states, “Tony Parker has never had sexual relations with a woman named Alexandra Paressant.”

You can read the court document here.

From December 12-17, 2007, x17online published ten separate articles accusing Parker of having an affair. There was a video of Paressant talking about her time with Parker, copies of alleged text messages between Parker and Paressant, airline tickets and other information that x17online was presenting as truth and “proof” of the affair.

The lawsuit explains how the allegations were false and could have been verified as false if x17online bothered to contact Parker, Longoria or anyone else for verification. For example, several of the articles stated that Paressant met Parker at his wedding to Longoria in July. x17online stated that the two were introduced by Parker’s friend Thierry Henry. However, no one from x17online contact Henry to attempt to verify the validity of the allegations.

It will be interesting how this all turns out. But my guess is that there will be a large out of court settlement.
