Wood Underwear and Lingerie
Posted on July 7th, 2008 by Kristin in Intimate ApparelIf you want to really go green, try underwear made out of wood. Seriously!
Clothing designer Sophie Young, founder of g=9.8, has created an underwear and lingerie line for both men and women that is really (honestly) made from wood. The wood fibers are extracted and then spun into a fabric, or Lenpur, that is reportedly as smooth as silk.
And for those people worried about deforestation, only sustainably managed wood is used and the harvesting is done during regular maintenance pruning.
The undergarments are reported to be biodegradable and anti-bacterial. The fabric contains more microscopic holes than polyester, which some claim improves air circulation, regulates temperature, and creates a more hygienic atmosphere.
Although they can be machine washed, they should not be tumble dried and they will live a normal lifespan for undies.
If you’re dying to slide into a sexy pair of wood panties, you’ll unfortunately have to pay a bit in shipping as the only place currently selling this product is U.K. based By Nature, but what’s a little shipping fee when you’re saving the environment one butt at a time? And remember, they come in both men’s and women’s styles. Just imagine the fires you’ll start!
