Outfit of the Week – Workwear Wonderful

Ann Taylor Loft Outfit

Because we love you, we’ve made things easy for you: All the pieces of this week’s Outfit of the Week can be found in one spot: Ann Taylor Loft. We give huge props to their web site, too, because they’ve taken the liberty of grouping together several of their offerings to create entire looks with ease. This one is our favorite for October, since it encompasses many of the hottest trends from this season:

  • Shiny blouse. Anything metallic, subtly sparkly or shiny is it this season. We love the fallish color and menswear-meets-feminine button-up style of this blouse in a big way.
  • Short-sleeved, belted, wrap sweaters. Short-sleeved sweaters are making a huge comeback, and the time to get the most wear out of these is fall. With the longer length and uber-popular belt detail, this style is tops this season. Add in the fact that this is a wrap-style cardigan and swoon, we’re in love.
  • High-waisted, pleated skirt. Another multi-trend piece, this skirt rocks what could be a potentially problematic trend – a high waist. The pleats, which begin mid-way down the skirt, add great detail without adding bulk to the tummy area.
  • Opaque tights. Definitely one of our favorite developments, opaque tights finish off a look more cleanly and are far more durable than nylon hosiery. We’re so happy to see them pulling together this look.
  • Booties. Once a fun and crazy-funky look, booties are becoming more mainstream and sophisticated, which has earned them a nice place in the work world. Detailing of any kind – such as buttons, zippers, studs and buckles – add drama and interest to the shoe.
  • Leather satchel. Satchels are such a great size option – not as large and intimidating as a hobo, yet roomier and more fashion-forward than the traditional shoulder style. We love this one in the rich chocolate brown, but it also comes in olive.
  • This entire outfit – complete with all its trendiness and class – can be purchased for under $350. The bonus? Each piece can be paired with something already in your wardrobe for even more mileage. Enjoy.
