Now I would never suggest that Tom Cruise has completely brainwashed her into a submissive zombie or had her cut her hair so that she looks like a boy now … ok I dont know about the brainwashing but the looking like a boy thing I’m 100% positive on. Katie Holmes and Jessica Alba were just too of the celebs who attended the Glamour Magazine V-Day Kickoff Luncheon. This is the 10th Anniversary of V-Day, which is a series of annual events to raise awareness and stop violence against women and girls.

Katie was dressed very simply in basic black from head to toe and looked fabulous. She’s really turning into a very classy woman, despite being married to a weirdo.

Mommy-to-be Jessica Alba looked great in her print dress. She was in attendance with her man, Cash Warren, who was also celebrating his birthday. Cash was dressed in a suit … with sneakers.

Other celebrities in attendance included Rosario Dawson, Kerry Washington and Ali Larter, amongst others. The event was hosted by Posse Productions Eve Ensler, Editor-in-Chief of Glamour Cindi Leive, and United Artists’ CEO Paula Wagner at Craft in Los Angeles.

The main V-Day event - V to the Tenth - takes place on April 11-12, 2008 in New Orleans. It’s a two-day anniversary celebration and conference. Salma Hayek, Oprah Winfrey, Jane Fonda, Jennifer Hudson, Glenn Close, Julia Stiles, Ashley Judd, Marisa Tomei, Calpernia Addams, Rosario Dawson, Kerry Washington, Ellen DeGeneres, and musicians Joss Stone, Common, Eve, and Charmaine Neville ar expected to be in attendance.

Thank god Victoria Beckham has taken Katie Holmes under her wing and she no longer looks like a rag tag suburban housewife in need of a trip to Starbucks. We loved Katie’s new haircut, and if the pictures from the January issue of InStyle Magazine are any indication Katie is on the road to a fashion recovery.

No matter how you feel about the whole TomKat Katie Holmes thing you gotta admit Katie was looking like an overly frazzled suburban soccer mom, the only thing missing was the mini van, some swats and flip flops, and a cup of Starbucks. Thank god Tom finally unlocked the basement door and let her get out to salon and get a decent stylish haircut.

One is blond and petite. The other is a brunette who towers over her famous hubby. But they both share one common characteristic: The cover of US Weekly’s 20 Best Makeovers issue, due on newstands this Friday.

Yep, everybody’s favorite marathon-running Scientologist, Katie Holmes, nailed US’s top spot for “Most Improved” and itty-bitty country-crossover Idol Carrie Underwood scored “Sexiest New Style”. Before and after photos (the befores taken at the stars’ most horrific fashion moments, of course) are featured, showing us just how far a little makeup and a great hairdo can go.

Said Project Runway’s Tim Gunn of Holmes’ switcheroo:

“When she first was with Tom Cruise, she looked like a kid. Now she’s an elegant woman.”

Indeed. She’s come a long way to be sure. But isn’t she looking a bit Posh Spice-ish these days (minus the bizarre tatas, of course).

As for Underwood, her plethora of bragged-about jeans have stepped aside for a sophisticated and fresh style, and names like Escada and Max Azaria no longer sound like car models.

“My fashion vocabulary has expanded!” said Underwood.

Glad to hear it, Carrie. There sure as hell is more to life than Levis.

Well, it looks as though the littlest Cruise is just as fashion-forward as her ‘rents. Over the weekend, the Cruise clan hit the streets of New York, taking in the sites and promoting Tom’s new movie, Lions for Lambs (it’s good to see him off Oprah’s couch and back on the big screen, eh?)
